the book of the day: Cheers for Barack Obama!

Marcelline Ngono Bene has published a compilation of texts lyrical poems in tribute to the President of the United States.

Two years after the election of Barack Hussein Obama for President of the United States of America, Marcelline Sybille Ngono Bene, better known under the name of Marcelline Nnomo Zanga, publishes a book to celebrate. "Odes and African songs in tribute to Barack Obama" has just been published by Key in Yaounde.

"Aaa kangalio! Kangal! ". It is through this chorus 12 poems that begin the lyric of this collection. "This century child was eight years old when Barack Obama, the son of Barack's African American and Anna, was elected," sings the author. And pursue enthusiastically: "He had to break all records in transforming the dream into reality humanist." In his great admiration, she indulges in an emphatic verb, laudatory, at the limit of veneration, and chanted his name with different variations: Obamanation, obamaphile, Obamamania, obamanitude. Ellle can not stop either of superlatives to describe him: sent from the gods, human welfare, the messiah of modern times ... For her, this man who is neither white nor black nor yellow, nor red has come "refound the man with the world, to confront nations and peoples with their rights and duties, and proclaim a new humanism."

A beautiful project that deserves to be evaluated today. In 2008, Obama's election has shocked the world. His audacity, his youth (49 years), his fluency and his methods have brought hope to the ends of the earth, and many Africans were immediately recognized in this son of a Kenyan. In their hearts, he became the father, brother and son. But since then, the popularity of the Nobel Peace Prize 2009 has declined and A cozy capital he had earned deteriorated. The mid-term elections in the U.S., where Democrats have retained a narrow majority in the Senate proves it. Moreover, some of its promises have become obstacle courses, like the closure of the Guantanamo prison. In this context it is legitimate to ask whether this work can not be two years too late.

In the preface he signs, Jean-Emmanuel Pondi, author of "Barack Obama. Querying the admiration "(2008, Key), writes:" In my humble opinion, what should be learned from this wonderful collection is, by beyond the intention and poetic tribute to a man for his great stature and prestige, the creative impulse of a woman deeply concerned for his emotional response to extérioser long and hard struggle of humanity, to exorcise demons history and ultimately conquer the absolute ".

Marcelline Sibylle Ngono Bene is Inspector General of Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education. His book should be read aloud with musical preference, to capture the beauty and poetry by penetration depth.
